So, to say it has been raining here would be an understatement. Today it has been just pouring!! All the schools in Queensland from Agnes Water to the NSW border have been closed because it could be dangerous to drive on the roads. It’s funny, a week ago, we were telling everyone that Hervey Bay and Fraser Island were in a drought and now we are flooding. It reminds me of the Dorothea Mackeller poem, To Love A Sunburnt Country, where she says “I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains. Of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains”
This is definitely a country of droughts one minute and flooding rains the next.
Though there will be some people who will suffer house damage from this storm (which is getting wilder as I type, so much for it easing) there will be lots of people in western Queensland who will be extremely grateful for the relief from the drought.
I hope all of you who are experiencing these rains stay safe and dry 🙂
Lots of love,
